Abel

The second son of Adam and Eve, and the first person to die. Abel was murdered by his older brother, Cain. Abel was a shepherd and had brought to God an offering—a lamb from his flock. Cain, a farmer, had brought some vegetables he had grown. God was pleased with Abel’s offering but not with Cain’s. The Bible does not say why, but it may have been because Abel’s life pleased God and Cain’s did not.
