Baptism

In Moses’s day, baptism was another word for washing. But when John the Baptist called the crowds to be baptized, he suggested that they be washed inside and outside. The outside washing showed that the person wanted to be changed on the inside. Baptism meant he was asking God to forgive his sins. So, John baptized people in the Jordan River. Jesus was one of the people John baptized. Jesus had not done anything wrong, but He wanted to show that His work of preaching, teaching, healing, and saving had begun. Today baptism is a way to show that a person has faith in Jesus. The old life has ended and a new life has begun.
