Barley

Barley was the most common grain grown in Israel. Most of the poor people used it for bread and cereal because it cost less than wheat. Beans, especially dried beans, were a regular part of the diet of poor people in Israel. Dried beans were sometimes ground and mixed with grain to make bread.
