Caravan

A group of people traveling together for protection. In Bible times, travelers in the deserts or foreign lands went in groups to protect each other from robbers, wild animals, or accidents. When families moved, they went in caravans; traders also traveled in caravans. Joseph was sold as a slave to a caravan of Ishmaelites. Mary, Joseph, and Jesus were part of a caravan traveling to Jerusalem for Passover when Jesus was twelve years old.
