Elizabeth

The mother of John the Baptist and the wife of a priest named Zechariah. Like Zechariah, she was from the family line of Aaron. Elizabeth could not have children at first. When Zechariah and Elizabeth were too old to have children, an angel told Zechariah that Elizabeth would have a son. When Elizabeth was six months pregnant, her cousin Mary came to visit her. Elizabeth greeted Mary with Spirit-filled words, and Mary rejoiced by singing a song of praise to God. Elizabeth’s son was John the Baptist, who prepared the people of Israel for the coming of the Lord.
