Ethiopia/Cush

A country whose history stretches back to before Moses’s time. It was south of Egypt along the Red Sea. In Old Testament times it included much of today’s Sudan as well as modern Ethiopia. The people of Israel called Ethiopia “Cush” and its people “Cushites.” Cush was the grandson of Noah, and his descendants formed Ethiopia. Moses married an Ethiopian woman. In the days of King Hezekiah, the Ethiopian king, Tirhakah, attempted to conquer Judah but failed. In New Testament times, Ethiopia was ruled by Queen Candace.
