Joshua

Moses’s assistant and military commander through Israel’s forty years in the wilderness after the escape from Egypt. When Moses died just before Israel entered Canaan, Joshua became the new leader. He was at least seventy years old at that time. He led the army into battle against Jericho and many other cities. He also assigned specific areas to the tribes and encouraged them to drive out the remaining Canaanites in their areas. Joshua then dissolved his top command post and retired to an area near Mount Ephraim. He died at age 110.
