Lamb of God

A name for Jesus that shows His mission: to sacrifice Himself for all of the wrongs ever committed. That name was especially meaningful to people in Jesus’s day when lambs were sacrificed as part of many worship services. When John the Baptist saw Jesus, he used this name. The apostle Peter also called Jesus “the Lamb.” In the book of Revelation, a lamb is often a word picture for Jesus.
