Philippians, book of
Written by the apostle Paul to the church at Philippi (now part of Greece) while he was imprisoned in Rome in AD 61 or 62. This letter has the nickname “the joy letter,” because of its joyful message, despite Paul’s difficult circumstances. Paul had a closer relationship with this church than with any other. His love for the Philippians shows clearly in this letter. He wrote of his joy in remembering them and of their joy in the Lord. The idea of joy or rejoicing appears sixteen times in this short letter.
