Pigs

Pigs and hogs were declared “unclean,” and therefore could not be eaten by the people of Israel. The Gentiles in Israel and surrounding areas raised pigs. Jesus told a parable of a son who left home and became a pig keeper—a shameful job for a man of Israel. Jesus also drove a legion of demons out of a man and allowed them to go into a herd of pigs.
