Scapegoat

On the Day of Atonement, two goats were chosen. One goat was sacrificed. The other goat was released into the wilderness as a symbol for the removing of the sins of the high priest and the people. The high priest would place his hands on the goat before sending the goat away, thus giving the sins to the goat.
