Tarsus
A city ten miles from the northeast coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Tarsus was the birthplace and early home of the apostle Paul. Although it was located in what is now Turkey, it was then the capital of the Roman province of Cilicia. During Paul’s time the city had a famous university. Tarsus was also famous for its goats’ hair cloth.
