Thomas

One of Jesus’s twelve disciples. He was also called Didymus, which probably meant he was a twin. Although he is most remembered for his doubting, the Gospels show how much he loved Jesus. When Jesus went to Bethany to heal Lazarus, most of the disciples hesitated because they were afraid. They knew that Jewish leaders wanted to get rid of Jesus. Yet Thomas was willing to go with Jesus.

Later, Thomas showed his honesty and sincerity when he asked where Jesus was going after Jesus foretold His coming crucifixion. Thomas was not with the other disciples when Jesus appeared after His resurrection. When Thomas heard about it, he said he would not believe unless he could see and feel Jesus’s body. Yet as soon as Jesus appeared, Thomas was convinced.
