Goliath didn’t have to do much to appear fierce. At over nine feet tall, and armored from head to toe, his looks did the talking for him. David, on the other hand, was younger and smaller and had no armor. Even when Saul offered his own, David declined it. Instead, David would rely on his past shepherding experiences to give him courage. He knew the God who protected him from wild animals could protect him from anything—even giant Philistines. Bronze armor might keep you safe, but trust in a faithful God will keep you strong and courageous.
