The Israelites turned to Elisha for help because he used his God-given powers to save people’s lives. It worked liked this: First, Elisha trusted God, and God gave him the ability to perform special miracles to help others. Second, the people trusted Elisha because he had made right choices in the past and God had been with him. People who trust in God become trustworthy too.
Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Our culture is intrigued by superpowers, but a “superpower” everyone has is the ability to use kindness. You don’t have to perform supernatural miracles to show people the power and love of God. Take some time this week to meet the needs of someone in your community. Maybe you could take a donation of food to a food pantry or give bottles of water to the people who take away the trash. Or maybe you could draw get well cards and take them to kids who are in the hospital for a long time. When you do helpful things for others, they will see that they can trust what you say and do. Then when you talk about Jesus, they will trust what you say about that too!
Lord, let my trust in You be evident to all who seek You. Amen.
