Thought

Eight years old. Imagine leading a nation toward godliness when you’re not even allowed to drive your own chariot. But Josiah did just that. Of the 20 rulers of Judah, fewer than half could be called “good.” Because Josiah put his faith in God and told the people to do the same, God blessed him with peace during his lifetime. It doesn’t matter how young you are, God honors all who have faith.

Word

Jeremiah 1:7–8 NIV

But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.

Question

If you could be ruler of a nation at the age you are right now, what would you do?

What kinds of laws would you want to make?

Challenge

Josiah celebrated Passover with the people of Israel as a way of reminding everyone who God is and what God had done for them. It was a very special celebration—a way of rededicating themselves to God. However, we don’t have to have a special feast or wait for a special celebration to remember what God has done for us. Think of a practice you can do every day to help you remember what God has done for you. It might be as simple as saying a prayer and reading a Bible verse. Or it might be a song you sing or a walk you take while you talk to God. Think of what will help you and try it out. Do it every day for a week!

Prayer

Father in heaven, help me to live in faith and worship You with my whole heart as Josiah did. Amen.
