Thought

King David once punished people who murdered for selfish reasons. But then he let his own desires take over, and he broke God’s laws. He became a murderer, arranging for a man to die just so he could marry the man’s wife. David lost trust in God’s Word, and people died as a result. Breaking trust with God leads to sadness and hurt.

Word

Romans 8:7 NIV

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

Question

Have you ever done something you knew was wrong and then tried to hide it?

What happened when you tried to keep it a secret? Even if no one finds out about a wrong choice we made, that choice can still make us feel icky, and our wrong choices can affect others. When we try to hide things, it means that we don’t trust the people we love to forgive us, and we don’t trust God either. But God is always ready to forgive us, and He can help us ask others for forgiveness.

Challenge

Take time this week to talk to God about any wrong choices you have made. Ask God to help you trust Him more, and ask Him for forgiveness.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me remember to trust Your Word. Please help me to ask for forgiveness when my wrong choices hurt others. Amen.
