Many of the believers in the churches where Barnabas and Paul went were new to following Jesus. But when they heard about the needs of others, they immediately responded by gathering funds to give away. You don’t have to be an expert Christian to know how to serve others well. When you see a need, try to help. Be generous with what God has given you. That’s all it takes!
The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea.
Before the believers were called Christians in Antioch, they were referred to as “followers of the Way.” This was based on Jesus’s statement in John 14:6: “I am the way and the truth and the life.”
Ask a parent to help you find an organization that helps meet people’s needs, and talk with your parent about how your family could help. You might be able to donate money, things people need, or even your time as a volunteer.
