Thought

Abram and his family didn’t have a map to show them where to go. They didn’t have a contract from God outlining the five-year plan. In fact, the promises God made to Abram took many years to complete. Sometimes trusting God just means packing up and taking that first step, then the next, until you’re where God wants you to be.

Word

Genesis 15:6 NIV

Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

Question

Did Abram and Sarai ride camels?

Some archaeologists claim there are no really old camel bones found in Bible lands (from about 1800 BC). So that would mean, they say, that people didn’t use camels as pack animals when Abram was traveling all over. And some people use that kind of detail to argue the Bible account is wrong. But remember, Abram wasn’t from the typical area considered to be “Bible lands.” One reference to camels from Abram’s hometown is from around 2100 BC! There’s no bones about it. Once again, the Bible is proved true!

Challenge

Get a globe or a world map. Close your eyes and point to a spot on the map or globe. Ask a parent to help you look up information about that place. Now ask yourself: “What would I do if God sent me here to live or work for Him?” Share this activity and your answer with a family member or friend.

Prayer

God, give me enough trust to take even one step of faith today. Guide me to where You want me to go. Amen.
