Sometimes wisdom is having knowledge about things in the world, and sometimes it’s having special knowledge about God. David knew that God would help him take Jerusalem from the Jebusites because of God’s promises to Moses about inhabiting the land (see Exodus 23:23–24). God also gave David the creative idea to attack by climbing up the water shaft. The combination of wisdom and courage gave the Israelites victory.
How much better to get wisdom than gold,
to get insight rather than silver!
