Thought

One angel versus 185,000 soldiers (2 Kings 19:35). Our God saves! The prophet Isaiah predicted that God would defend the city against Sennacherib’s army, and God did. Isaiah also said God would send a Savior to redeem the world, and God did. We have hope because the Scriptures tell us that Jesus will come back, and He will. Believing God’s Word gives us hope for today and forever.

Word

Isaiah 9:6 NIV

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Question

Has fear ever made you forget that God is with you?

The people of Jerusalem were frightened by the words of their enemy. Has fear or doubt ever made you question God’s strength or made you forget that God is with you? What can you do to help yourself remember that God is always fighting for you?

Challenge

Many Bible scholars say Isaiah 52:13—53:12 describes Jesus, the Son of God. Read through these verses and underline or write out in your own words anything that stands out to you and how it could refer to Jesus.

Prayer

God, thank You for keeping Your Word. Help me to have hope in all Your promises. Amen.
