When Jesus came to Jerusalem for the start of the Passover week, His disciples and some people were so excited that they laid their coats and palm branches in the pathway in front of Him. The Pharisees were upset and wanted the people to stop, but Jesus told them even the rocks would praise Him if the people stopped. It’s wise to recognize Jesus as King and to give Him the praise that He alone deserves!
“I tell you,” [Jesus replied to the Pharisees], “if [my disciples] keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
Look up Psalm 118 and see if you find similar words. This psalm was written to welcome a triumphant king.
The people laid their cloaks and palm branches on the road before Jesus to show their respect for Him as their King. We can give up our “cloaks” to show honor to Jesus as well, by honoring those whom Jesus loves. Gather extra clothes in good condition from your own closet. Ask your family or neighbors to donate clothes as well. Make sure all the clothing is clean, dry, and folded nicely. Then ask your parent to help you donate the clothing to a local shelter or to a church who can use the clothing to help people in need. Loving those whom Jesus loves is one of the best ways to honor and praise Him.
God, thank You for giving us wisdom so we know to worship only You. Amen.
