Thought

The rules and regulations concerning the ceremonies, rituals, and practices of the Israelites might seem like a lot, but these statements were not given to Moses just to make life difficult for those who served God. All these commands show us three things about God: God understands our lives down to the smallest details, God still loves us anyway, and God will always make a way for us to come to Him.

Word

Leviticus 26:11–12 NIV

I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.

Question

What does it mean to be a "scapegoat"?

In Leviticus 16, we can read about the concept of a “scapegoat.” God often revealed things about Himself through living pictures—acts carried out to explain something about who God is and what our relationship to Him is, will be, or should be. What do you think the practice of releasing a scapegoat into the wilderness is meant to show us?

Challenge

The family descended from Levi were committed to serve the Lord as His priests. Your family may not be a family of priests, but you can certainly serve God together. Ask your family to brainstorm about a service project you could all do together. Maybe you could even help your church together by setting up for services or being greeters during a service.

Prayer

God, thank You for caring about every part of our lives. Help me make my life a living sacrifice for You. Amen.
