Jesus rose from the grave and appeared to His disciples several times before He ascended into heaven. He showed them that He had truly come back to life. In one instance, He asked Peter three times if Peter loved Him, and each time Peter reassured Him that he did love Jesus. Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep, meaning Peter should care for and lead the followers of Jesus after Jesus returned to the Father. We also are called to feed His sheep and care for other Christians out of our love for Christ.

Challenge

While the phrase “feed my sheep” is an expression that doesn’t actually refer to literal food, one way we can show care for others is through providing a meal. Ask your parents if you can invite a family from church over for a meal, or make some food and take it to someone who might have difficulty cooking for themselves—such as someone who just had a baby, someone who is sick, or someone who is recovering from an injury. Feeding others is just one way to show care and love.

God, please help me to show the world my love for You by taking care of Your people. Amen.
