Thought

Simeon and Anna had waited a long time to see the Messiah, and when they did, they were both so excited that they couldn’t contain it. Finally, the promised One had come, bringing hope to their people! Anna went and told everyone around her, while Simeon offered up a praise to the God of hope, who kept His promise then and keeps His promises today.

Word

Luke 2:30–31 NIV

For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations.

Question

When have you been so joyful you could sing?

What’s something that gave you so much joy that you wanted to burst out and sing about it?

Challenge

Think of the joy from your action question, and then follow Simeon’s example and write out a praise to God for it. Your praise could take the form of a song, a poem, a story, or a picture.

Prayer

God, I praise You for the hope You give me. Amen.
