The Satan-serpent created the first fake news. Using lies, he tricked Eve into trusting him rather than in God. Then Adam was the first person to cave in to peer pressure. Adam trusted a person—Eve—rather than trusting God. And things got complicated after that. But here’s some good news: God took care of Adam and Eve even after they didn’t trust Him. God is trustworthy even when we’re not.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.
This diadem snake might be similar in form to the serpent that lied to Eve. It can be found in the Middle East and is known to climb trees. It’s called a diadem snake because it has the shape of a crown on its head. Wouldn’t that just be like Satan to pose as a king while lying about the One True King?
Ask a parent to purchase some kind of fruit snack. (Apple slices? Fruit leather? What’s your fave?) Offer snacks to your family or friends and ask people to share about one thing they find hard to resist. What do they do to trust God for help in those times?
Dear God, thank you that I can trust you even when I’m tempted to do wrong. Your ways are always good. Amen.
