Hannah served God by giving her firstborn child over to His will. Samuel, her child, served God all his life as His prophet. Though we may not be prophets, we can listen to God’s Word, be obedient to His commands, and every day look for ways to follow the way of Jesus.
The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”
Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
What is a verse or verses in the Bible that you especially like to hear?
As Hannah prayed, she rejoiced in God because He is holy and no one is like Him. She announced that He is in control of everyone and everything—death and life, poverty and wealth. Think of more pairs of opposites over which God has control. How many can you think of?
God, I want to be like Samuel, ready to listen to You and serve You every day. Help me be dedicated to learning how to serve You well. Amen.
