Thought

The prophet Habakkuk wondered why God let good King Josiah die. And why was there so much death? Habakkuk asked God, “How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, ‘Violence!’ but you do not save?” (Habakkuk 1:2). Bad things happen, even to good people, and it’s okay to ask God why. Having trust doesn’t eliminate questions. It leads us to where we can find the answers.

Word

Proverbs 29:25 NIV

Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

Question

Who do you look to when sad or afraid?

When you are sad or afraid, who is the first person you want to talk to?

Challenge

If you know what it feels like to be afraid, confused, stressed, or anxious, then it’s likely that there are other people in your life who feel those same things. Think about one thing you could say to or do for someone who might be having a hard time this week. For example, you could just send a funny message to make them laugh or share some music you like or ask them to watch a favorite show together.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for being with us during times of stress. Teach me to trust in You when I feel as if the world is falling apart. Amen.
