On the way to celebrate the Passover feast, Jesus and His disciples stopped at the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. While they were there, Mary was so moved by her love for Jesus that she poured a whole pint of expensive perfume on Jesus’ feet and then dried his feet with her hair. Mary loved Jesus so much that she gave her treasure to Him in an act of worship. We can also worship Jesus by giving Him our time, our belongings, and, most importantly, our love.
Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
Do you know how much a pint of perfume is? It’s two whole cups. Today, perfume is often sold in 3-ounce bottles. Two cups is 16 ounces. That’s a LOT of perfume!
You may not have a pint of perfume, but think about something you could do this week in your area to make others smile and please God at the same time. Maybe you could choose to make or do something that smells good, looks good, or tastes good. Or do all three at once: make some yummy chocolate chip cookies and give them to your neighbors! Put them in sealable sandwich bags with a note inside each bag that says, “God loves you!”
God, You are worthy of my love and worship. I praise Your holy name! Amen.
