Thought

Baby smugglers. Devoted mothers. Feisty wives. And even a warrior with a tent peg. The women highlighted in the Old Testament were not fragile. They became part of God’s plan for the world because they trusted in Him. These women may have a small role in the true stories from the Bible, but they acted with big faith and made a big difference. What if baby Moses had died? What if there had been only six tribes of Israel? God has given you a role in the here and now, so be ready to respond faithfully. You are a key player in God’s grand plan for our time.

Word

Esther 4:14 NIV

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Question

Which women in the Bible inspired your faith?

God worked through women and gave them great roles in His story. Women in the Bible upheld spiritual values, showed wisdom and discernment, demonstrated compassion, prayed for others, exercised leadership and influence, displayed courage and boldness, sought justice for the persecuted and marginalized, preached and led others spiritually, and offered hospitality to others.

Challenge

Think of a woman in your life who is a faithful follower of Jesus. Consider what you can learn from that person and how your faith can be strengthened. Thank that person, and ask how you can pray for her.

Prayer

Lord, when I start to feel I don’t matter or can’t make a difference, remind me that You have a purpose for me. Help me be ready when You ask me to do something in faith. I want to be part of Your good plan. Amen.
