God knew the best time for Jesus to come to the world in human form. He prepared the way by using foreign powers to create the perfect political situation for the Savior’s arrival. Daniel even prophesized that Alexander the Great would conquer just about everyone! (See Daniel 8:5–8 and 21–22). When it seems as if God isn’t handling a situation, read the Bible, and you’ll find hopeful clues as to His plans. God is never silent when you have His Word.

What was it and how long did you wait?
Look back over the Old Testament stories you have read and think about what you have learned from each of them. Write down one or two points you remember about each story. You don’t have to do this all in one sitting! Take your time. Writing down things like this will help you remember what you have read.
Lord, even when I can’t see You, I know You are working behind the scenes for my good. I don’t need to know what Your plans are; I need to know You. Amen.
