Ahab

The seventh and most evil king Israel ever had. He reigned from about 874 to 853 BC. He was a strong military leader who defeated the army of Syria twice. He married Jezebel, a woman who worshipped idols. To please her, King Ahab built a temple and an altar to Baal. Ahab was king during the famous conflict between the prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, when God sent fire to consume Elijah’s offering. Although Ahab was very rich, he always wanted more. When he tried to take the vineyard of a man named Naboth, the prophet Elijah predicted Ahab’s upcoming death. Ahab lost his life in the next battle with Syria.
