Andrew

One of Jesus’s twelve disciples. Andrew and his brother, Simon, were fishermen. Andrew also was a disciple of John the Baptist. But one day John pointed to Jesus and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus.

When Jesus wanted to feed five thousand people with five loaves and two fish, Andrew was the one who found the boy with his lunch. After Acts 1:13, Andrew is not mentioned again in the New Testament. However, tradition says he became a martyr for Christ in Achaia (present-day Greece), where he was crucified on an X-shaped cross. That shape is now known as Saint Andrew’s cross.
