Augustus Caesar

The ruler of the Roman Empire at the time Jesus was born. He was the grandnephew of Julius Caesar, the founder of the Roman Empire. The name Caesar was added to the name of each of the Roman emperors, so it became a title like emperor or king. Augustus Caesar meant the same as Emperor Augustus.
