Barak

A military leader of the Israelites. When Deborah was judge of Israel, the people were being oppressed by the Canaanites, who robbed their farms. Deborah told Barak that God wanted him to bring together an army of ten thousand men to fight the Canaanites. Barak said he would do it only if Deborah went along into battle with him. When Barak refused to go unless Deborah went, Deborah proclaimed that victory would belong to a woman.
