Baskets

In the Old Testament, baskets were made from reeds, twigs, or ropes. They were used for carrying fruit, bread, or clay. They were carried by hand, on the head or shoulders, or attached to a pole, depending on their size. As a baby, Moses was placed in a watertight basket and placed on the Nile River. In the New Testament, two kinds of baskets are mentioned. One was like a small backpack. The other was a large, sturdy basket, big enough to hold a person. Paul escaped from Damascus by hiding in a basket, which was lowered down through the city wall.
