Blessing

A gift given by God, such as cattle, sheep, wealth, or children. A blessing was also a public statement of favor. Fathers spoke a blessing to their sons. In the New Testament, forgiveness and salvation were blessings—gifts—

from God. A person who is blessed is considered favored by God.
