Bow and Arrow

Used for hunting animals for food, and also for war. Bows were made of wood; bowstrings were made of oxgut. Arrows were light wood or reeds tipped with metal. When bows and arrows were used as weapons of war, the bows were sometimes as long as five feet. Israelites from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Benjamin were famous for their skill with bows and arrows in warfare. First Samuel 31:3 tells that King Saul was wounded by a Philistine archer. Egyptian archers wounded King Josiah so badly that he died.
