Dogs

Dogs are mentioned many times in the Bible, and in most instances they are considered undesirable. They were scavengers and disease carriers. Although they were used to guard sheep, they were not considered pets or companions. Only in the story of Jesus’s encounter with a Canaanite woman is there any suggestion of a dog as a pet.

The prophet Elijah predicted that wild dogs would eat the remains of Queen Jezebel. That prophecy came true.
