Ephesians, book of

Paul wrote this letter when he was a prisoner in Rome around AD 59–61. It probably went to many small churches in the province of Asia (now part of Turkey). Paul’s friend Tychicus delivered the letters we call Colossians and Philemon at the same time. Paul uses many pictures to show how the church is related to Jesus. All Christians are like a body, and Jesus is the Head. Christians together are like a building, and Jesus is the important cornerstone.
