Epistles

Letters written by individuals. Examples of epistles in the Old Testament include David’s letter to Joab in 2 Samuel 11:14–15; Queen Jezebel’s letter in 1 Kings 21:8–10; Sennacherib’s letter to Hezekiah in 2 Kings 19:10–14; and the letters in Ezra 4. However, the word epistle usually refers to twenty-one books in the New Testament. These letters were written by Peter, Paul, James, John, Jude, and the author of Hebrews. Paul wrote thirteen letters. Here are the the best known epistles of the Bible: Colossians, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Ephesians, Galatians, Hebrews, and James.
