Faith

Trust or belief. In the Bible, many times faith means belief in God and in His Son, Jesus. When you see the phrase the faith, it means the whole message of the good news of Jesus: that He died for the sins of all and came back to life.

In the Old Testament, Abraham obeyed God because he had faith. In the New Testament, Jesus’s disciples showed their faith—their belief that Jesus was the promised Savior—by leaving their jobs and following Him. Hebrews 11 lists many other people who had faith: Abel, Enoch, Noah, Joseph, Moses, and others. Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please God.

The letters Paul wrote in the New Testament explain what faith is and why we need it. The book of James in the New Testament explains that faith is seen in what we do. When we trust God, we show our faith by obeying Him.
