Furnace

Used for baking pottery and bricks; for melting silver, gold, copper, brass, and bronze; and for smelting iron and other ores. They were of many sizes and were usually made of stone and brick. Daniel’s three friends—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—were thrown into a furnace for their refusal to worship a statue set up by King Nebuchadnezzar. Jesus compared the agony of hell with a “fiery furnace.”
