Genesis, book of

The first book of the Bible and a book about beginnings. It tells how God created the world and people. It tells about the beginning of sin, the beginning of God’s judgment on sin, and His mercy to sinners. It also tells about the beginning of the nation of Israel, from which the Redeemer of the world—Jesus—would be born many years later. Stories of the patriarchs—
