Giants

In the Bible, giants refer to actual human beings (not make-believe creatures) who are tall and powerful. Tribes of these very large people lived in Canaan before the Israelites conquered it. Goliath, who fought David, was one of these. He was more than nine feet tall. His armor weighed 125 pounds! Very large people are often called Rephaim or Nephilim in the Old Testament. There is no reference to these people in the New Testament. Og, the king of Bashan, slept in a bed thirteen and a half feet by six feet. He was the last of the Rephaim.
