Hagar

Sarah’s Egyptian maid and the mother of Abraham’s son Ishmael. Sarah became jealous of Hagar and her son, even though Sarah came up with the idea for Hagar and Abraham to have the child. Sarah treated Hagar badly. Abraham did not stop Sarah from being mean to Hagar, and eventually Hagar took her son and ran away. But through an angel, God promised Hagar that the descendants of her son Ishmael would become a large nation. They later became the Ishmaelites. Joseph’s brothers sold Joseph to Ishmaelite traders.
