Heaven

Either the part of the world that arches over the earth or the place where God lives. Ancient peoples saw the universe as being in two parts: the earth and the heavens. They saw the heavens as a kind of dome over the earth. From the heavens came the rain and the sunlight needed for life. The beauty of the heavens reminded the people of God.

Heaven is also the place where God lives and where His children will live with Him after the resurrection. Right now, Jesus is in heaven, praying for His followers and helping to run the universe. We don’t know where heaven is or what it looks like, but the word pictures in the book of Revelation tell us it is a happy place where everyone enjoys God.
