Iron

Iron was used to make axes and other tools. When the Israelites first came into Israel, they had very little iron. This kept them poor because they did not have good farming tools or swords and spears for their armies. Later, when they defeated the Philistines and took over the land, they were able to learn how to melt and shape iron. The army of the Canaanites had nine hundred chariots made from iron.
