Isaac

The only son of Abraham and Sarah, born by a miracle of God when Abraham was one hundred years old and Sarah was ninety. God promised that the nation of Israel would be born through the family line of Isaac.

When Isaac was a young boy, God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac to Him on a mountain in the land of Moriah. With great sorrow, Abraham went to Moriah and got ready to sacrifice Isaac. When everything was set, God appeared to Abraham and prevented him from killing Isaac.

At age forty, Isaac married Rebekah, a relative from Mesopotamia and had twin sons, Esau and Jacob. When Isaac was about a hundred years old and his eyesight was poor, he was tricked into giving the birthright blessing to Jacob instead of Esau. Isaac died at age one hundred eighty.
