James, book of

James, the brother of Jesus, wrote this letter possibly as early as AD 48 to tell believers to do more than talk about their faith—they must do what is pleasing to God. James is very plain about the things that do not please God. Christians should be careful about what they say. Christians are not to honor people because they are rich. Everyone is to be treated alike. James urges Christians to pray for each other, to resist temptation, to be humble before God, to seek wisdom from God, and to realize that every good thing we have is a gift from God.
